OptoWork is a web platform built for the UK optometry industry to streamline shift posting, booking and compliance. Optometrists, opticians and support staff upload compliance docs to request bookings, get real-time approval notifications, and message practices in-app. Practice managers sign up, connect their practice, post/manage shifts, review requester profiles, and approve/decline requests — all with instant email and in-app alerts. Admin tools provide profile approval, document review and audit logs.
Problem Statement
The UK optometry industry depends heavily on locum optometrists, opticians, and support staff, but shift management was disorganized and time-consuming. Practices relied on spreadsheets, emails, and calls to coordinate availability, making it difficult to track compliance documents, manage bookings, and communicate efficiently. As a result, many shifts went unfilled, responses were delayed, and both practitioners and practices faced ongoing scheduling frustration.
Solution Provided
OptoWork was built to solve this problem by creating a unified digital platform where optometry professionals and practices can seamlessly connect. Practitioners can upload compliance documents, request bookings, and receive instant notifications when requests are approved. Practice managers can post and manage shifts, review practitioner profiles, and communicate directly through in-app messaging. OptoWork replaces manual coordination with an automated, real-time solution — making shift management across the UK optometry sector simple, transparent, and stress-free.
